Balut - Filipinos Love It

Look at that! It's a baby duck! A fertilized duck egg with a nearly-developed embryo. It's an Asian delicacy and what can I say? Oooooh! I love balut... It is a common street food in the Philippines and is often served with beer. But I don't drink beer so a cola will do. Eat this with a pinch of salt  and sinamak (spiced vinegar) and poof! It's not only popular in the Philippines but as well as in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.

Take a look at this one. This is a fifteen-day-old balut taken out of its shell, placed in a bowl of spicy soy sauce. . Poor baby duck. Try to eat a balut eighteen-day-old or more and you will already feel it's crunchy bones and wings and feathers while you devour it. mmmmmmmmmmm.... Grind it well or it'll stick in between your teeth. :D
